Why Sports?
At SALT, we observe a broad definition of Sports, as adopted by the Aspen Institute in its “Sports For All, Play For Life” report (2015), wherein sport is defined as follows:
“All forms of physical activity which, through organized or casual play, aim to express or improve physical fitness and mental well-being.”
Research has established that sports participation is beneficial for both the physical and social/psychological development of all young people, as it fosters physical activity, as well as serving as a venue for promoting responsible behaviors and learning key social skills such as character, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
